Helpful tips
- Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure that your eggs and butter are at room temperature before you start baking. This helps in achieving a smoother batter consistency and better incorporation of ingredients.
- Zesting Lemons: When zesting lemons for the recipe, be careful to only scrape the outer yellow skin. The white pith beneath is bitter, so avoid grating it into your mixture.
- Mixing Technique: When combining the wet and dry ingredients, aim for a smooth batter but avoid overmixing. Overmixing can result in a tougher texture.
- Baking Time: Keep an eye on the brownies towards the end of the baking time. Ovens can vary, so they might need a couple of extra minutes or less than the stated time to achieve that perfect golden color.
- Cooling Before Glazing: It's crucial to let the brownies cool completely before adding the glaze. This prevents the glaze from melting too much and ensures a neat finish.
- Glaze Consistency: If the glaze seems too thick, you can adjust the consistency by adding a little more lemon juice. If it's too runny, sprinkle in some powdered sugar until you reach the desired thickness.
- Cutting Tips: For clean and neat squares, use a sharp knife. It often helps to wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean edges.
- Storage: Lemon brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days. If you plan to keep them longer, consider refrigerating them, but bring them to room temperature before serving for the best taste.
