Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Quick & Easy: With just five ingredients and no baking required, this recipe is a total time-saver for busy days.
  • Kid-Friendly: My kids love them, making them the perfect snack for school or after-school energy.
  • Healthy & Delicious: Packed with nutrients, these bites give you a healthy energy boost without any guilt.

Ingredients

  • Creamy Peanut Butter: You can easily swap this for any nut butter you love, like almond or cashew butter, to suit your taste.
  • Honey: If you're looking for a vegan option, maple syrup is a great alternative to bind the ingredients together.
  • Instant Oats: Quick and easy to work with, they provide the perfect texture for these energy bites.
  • Ground Flaxseeds: These are packed with nutrients and help hold the bites together, but you can skip them if you prefer.
  • Semi-sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips: Feel free to adjust the amount or swap for mini chocolate chips or any other add-ins you love!

5 Ingredients no bake energy bites

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients: creamy peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), ground flaxseeds, instant oats, and dark chocolate chips. Stir everything together until well mixed.
  • Refrigerate the mixture for about 15–20 minutes to help it firm up.
  • Once chilled, use your hands or a spoon to roll the mixture into small bite-sized balls.
  • Place the energy bites on a baking sheet or plate lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for an additional 10–15 minutes to set, then enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

Tips and Variations

  • Customize the Nut Butter: Feel free to swap the creamy peanut butter for almond, cashew, or sunflower seed butter depending on your preference or dietary needs.
  • Add Protein: Boost the protein content by adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder to the mixture.
  • Sweetener Options: If you prefer a different sweetener, try using agave syrup, coconut nectar, or even a bit of stevia to taste.
  • Add-ins: Get creative with mix-ins! Consider adding dried fruit like cranberries, raisins, or chopped nuts for extra texture and flavor.
  • Make It Crunchy: If you like a little crunch, try using old-fashioned rolled oats instead of instant oats.
  • Flavor Boost: Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract for extra flavor!

Storing and Freezing

  • Storing: Keep the energy bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1-2 weeks. They stay fresh and ready to grab whenever you need a quick snack or energy boost.
  • Freezing: For longer storage, freeze the energy bites! Simply place them in a single layer on a baking sheet to freeze for about an hour, then transfer them to a freezer-safe container or bag. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Just thaw them in the fridge for a few hours before eating!

Faqs

Can I use regular oats instead of instant oats?

Yes, you can use regular oats, but be aware that they might make the bites a bit chewier. If using old-fashioned oats, you might want to pulse them in a food processor for a finer texture.

Can I make these energy bites nut-free?

Absolutely! You can substitute the peanut butter with a nut-free option like sunflower seed butter or soy nut butter for a nut-free version.

How long do these energy bites last?

When stored in the fridge, these energy bites can last up to 1-2 weeks. If you freeze them, they will stay good for about 3 months.

Can I skip the ground flaxseeds?

Yes, you can skip the flaxseeds, though they add fiber and nutrients. You can also substitute them with chia seeds or hemp seeds if you prefer.

How do I make these vegan?

To make these energy bites vegan, simply use maple syrup instead of honey and ensure you’re using a plant-based nut butter.
